My nails are a mess

It’s been over 3 weeks since I’ve posted on this blog.  Why?  Well, we have a rental property that needed to be fixed up so that we can sell it. My nails have been through some rough times while sanding drywall, painting, building a deck, putting on new gutters, landscaping and a thorough cleaning. YIKES!!!

I moisturized my hands every night with petroleum jelly.  That helped, but now I really need to strengthen them so that they grow back to a nice, healthy length and make them elegant again.

How am I going to do this?

  1.  Apply cuticle cream every night.  I swear buy Burt’s Bees cuticle cream.
  2. Buff nails

3.  Apply Color Street nail polish strips.  When nails are short, I prefer a nude or a blush color.  This is Charleston Blush with Tokyo Lights as the accent nail.

Vitamins that improve nail health


1. Vitamin A

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is considered effective for growing nails.

Foods that contain Vitamin A:

  • Vegetarian foods:  yams, spinach, citrus fruits, apples, cantaloupe, apricots
  • Non-vegetarian foods:  milk, eggs, liver and cod

2. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is another vitamin that is considered beneficial in promoting growth of nails. This vitamin helps in growth and recovery inside the body, and exhibit strong anti-oxidant properties, which prevent harm to the human body, caused by free radicals.

Foods that contain Vitamin C:

  • Vegetarian:  strawberries, blueberries, oranges, papaya, tomatoes, and leafy greens.

3.  Vitamin H (Biotin)

Biotin is a vitamin that is a part of the B vitamin family and is helpful in increasing nail growth. This vitamin is responsible for strengthening as well as promoting growth of hair, nails and skin.

Foods that contain Vitamin H (Biotin):

  • Vegetarian:  whole grains, bananas, mushrooms and cauliflower

4. Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is another B vitamin that is considered beneficial in increasing nail growth. This vitamin plays a crucial role in keeping red blood cells healthy and prevents damage to nerve cells.

  • Non-vegetarian:  beef liver, eggs and fish.

5. Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)

Folic Acid is another vitamin that is considered effective in promoting nail growth. This vitamin helps in creating cells, as well as increase growth of nails and hair.

  • Vegetarian:  leafy greens, legumes, broccoli, avocado, beets, seeds, and citrus fruits.
